Date Night

I had a day off yesterday as my feet have been in a bit of pain since I started jogging (Yes, shocking but true, I now jog!)

I stayed home and got some much needed rest. In the evening my housemate Carol and I decided to go see a movie. I thought it would be good to drag my best friend along as she has been a little down in the dumps this week and later on we invited one more friend who is really like my little brother and before we knew it we were having a date night!

We saw Taken 2. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I will only say that it did not disappoint. It’s not as good as the first one though (is any sequel ever better than 1?) but it still has that action to make you jump on your seat every few minutes. We goofed around a lot which made it a terrific night; I would recommend that you take your craziest friends along to the movies if you want guaranteed fun!

Also I finally got a pair of boyfriend jeans from Mr. Price! I have wanted to own a pair since forever so I was really excited to find these, plus, I got them in a SALE *winning* Paired them with a mint blouse and some wedges and was good to go! Enjoy the pics:-)

The Amaka Arts Festival Fashion Show

A week ago a new friend of mine, Mukuka of c1rca1964, told me about this amazing festival called "Amaka Arts Festival" that was taking place in Lusaka. The Amaka Arts Festival is the first Zambian international multidisciplinary arts festival and was created to add value to the Zambian arts market. The festival is a week long and showcases five main disciplines which include film, visual arts, dance, fashion and literary arts.

Needless to say, I was almost falling over myself when I heard about the fashion show and Mukuka helped me connect with the organisers of the festival and I managed to attend it. The fashion show was held on the rooftop of The Foxdale Court Shopping complex which was perfect because it's summer at the moment and super hot so the cool air and stunning night scenery added that extra pizzazz!

I wore a black lace dress that I got a few weeks ago. I am so in love with lace and sheers at the moment and I loved how simple and elegant it came out. I also wore a stunning new pair of heels I got in a sale at Foshini!

I was so psyched to see one of the first Zambian bloggers I ever stumbled upon, Sekayi from the blog Mafashio, at the festival. She was one of the models and looked like a frigging supper model! I was grinning at her the whole time and most of my pictures were biased towards her really..lol. I had to leave early and didn't get to meet her but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

This collection was done by Angolan designer  Avelino Maximento

Thank you for reading and remeber that if you are in Zambia at the moment, the Amaka Arts Festival is still on-going! Visit their twitter @AmakaArtsFest for more information! Follow me on twitter @ghetogal:)

All White Glamour

There are two trends that have absolutely stolen my heart at the moment but today I am only going to talk briefly about one of them because I want to save the other one for an outfit post:)

I have always been a little bit wary about white as I am not the tidiest person to have walked this earth..lol..I always get my face powder, makeup or lunch soup on my clothes and when I wear white it's always a disaster at the end of the day. But I can't help loving the all white trend!

All white is so chic and classy and I love how effortless it all seems to be. I'm not sure if there are any hard or fast rules about this trend but I think the trickiest part is choosing the shoes to ear it with. I would really rather be safe with this look and go with either gold, nude or silver shoes but as I always say, there really are no hard rules in fashion, as long as you can work it!

My favourite all white look is most certainly the pant suit! It's something you can wear to work and also to a red carpet event and tick all the boxes. The celebrities are certainly not shying away from white glamour, here are a few looks I absolutely love with my top look being the ever trendy Rihanna!

Pictured above: Rihanna, Vanessa Hudgens, Camilla Belle, Taylor Swift and Mila Kunis

I also like the all white look as a casual look, throw on some skinny jeans, cropped pants or a t-shirt and you are instantly casual chick. I also like it with a skirt:)

And finally I have to say that wearing   the all white look with shorts is the epitome of glamour for me!

Have you tried this trend yet? What do you think of it? Let me know in your comments or follow me on twitter @ghetogal.

Diamond Casino Opening Night & Freshy Ground Concert

Last week I got to attend the official opening of a new casino in town called the Diamond Casino. Usually I would not have been ecstatic about it as I do not know much about casino's and do not really care to gamble but one of the main features was that South African band Freshly Ground was going to be performing for the opening.

The first single I ever heard from this band was a catchy song called Doo Bee Doo which is the video I have shared above. They are such a talented group. My young brother is completely in love with them and is really a bigger fan than me as I only know a few of their songs but I was still excited to watch them!

I wore a little black dress I have been storing at the back of my closet for a special event. What I love the most about this dress is that it has an open back and a lovely bow at the end and is really simple and sweet. I got it for a total steal while “thrifting” (I thrift shop a lot!) and it's got a special place in my heart.

I met up with one of my good friend Mkhudzo who I have been to two events with already in the past month, both of which have been so much fun as she is such a bubbly person. She is one of the nicest people I know and is such a naturally beautiful girl both inside and out. She is getting married in two weeks which is so exciting and I hope to share some of her wedding pictures with you after the event!

Here are some pictures from the concert and opening night. Enjoy!

Freshly Ground performed so fabulously!
