You Want To Be In Zambia Right About Now! UNWTO & Barefeet Festival

I have been busy and it's not the fun busy I usually complain about but secretly enjoy. It's the pile of office paperwork that keeps going on and on till you explode kind of busy! Last week was hectic to say the least as I might have let some work drag and I had to catch up before it completely drowned me. I'm pleased to say I am back with a little more time to share what I have been up to.

United Nations World Tourism Organization
Exciting things are going on in Zambia at the moment and I wish I had a clone I could send around to be part of all these events but I don't! Zambia is currently co-hosting the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) 20th General Assembly with Zimbabwe from the 24th to the 29th of August. UNWTO is the world’s biggest tourism assembly and up to 4 000 participants are expected to attend from the 180 member countries, making this one of the most prestigious events of the year!

I would give one of my toes to be in Livingstone right now (Zambia's tourist capital) because I can imagine how insanely exciting it must be with all those tourists and so much to see and do. Must be a carnival up there!

My best friend and I were in Livingstone two months ago; we planned a road trip and went down to the Victoria Falls which is one of the world's natural wonders. It was amazing and I really feel if you are Zambian there is no excuse not to plan a trip there. We are often dreaming and saving up for exotic gateways like the Seychelles or Bahamas but I can assure you that we have amazing places in Zambia and we need to explore our own country. If you follow me on any of my social media channels you may have seen some of these pictures but I thought now would be a good time to share them with those that haven’t! Oh to be in Livingstone again!

Barefeet ROAR Festival
I really shouldn't be drooling so much at the thought of being in Livingstone because something just as amazing is going on in my city Lusaka! The Barefeet Theater is hosting its annual festival but this year is one of the biggest ever and rightly named as the ROAR Festival! I was lucky to attend the Festival Launch cocktail at Intercontinental over the weekend as Mazuba was kind enough to invite me. I hate how I always forget to get a full picture of my outfit at these events as I am busy clicking away at everybody else :(

Poetry, acrobatics, food and friends was what the night was all about and if it's anything to go by, this year's festival will be amazing! If you're in Lusaka, do yourself a favour and go see some of the events. You can check out the event guide here and read more about the people behind Barefeet Theater here!

Thank you for reading!
