Hello lovelies! Zambia Fashion Week kicks
off this week from the 17th to the 19th of October so I thought it would be
great to feature some of the pictures I got from last year’s show. Three whole
days of top Zambian fashion and as an extra perk, the first two days of the show are absolutely
free!
Last year's show was my first
major fashion show so I didn't really know what to expect. I went in support of a
designer friend, Jessica who owns the fabulous House of Couture. I saw a lot of
interesting pieces and my favorite designer from that night was most definitely
Kapasa of Magishi Love. I feel like her designs push the boulder. They are so
out of the box yet they are relatable in a way that you could wear them off the
runway without looking awkward.
I must say I was a little let down by the
entertainment last year. Apart from Desert Rose who performed a great song at
the end of the show, the entertainment featured raw talent and acts from guys
who were just "okay". And okay is not what you want at the biggest fashion show
of the year. Also, most people who showed up didn't really make an effort to
dress up. I think watching the crowd is part of the fun of any fashion show. I
assume that if you come to a fashion show, you have an interest in fashion, so I
expected to get lots of great shots of the audience but only spotted one or two
people who bothered to look the part. I'm not saying show up in sky scrapper
heels and dresses so short that you have to hang onto them, I just mean wear something more
interesting than jeans and sneakers (unless these happen to be a designer
brand) allow yourself to have fun, it's a chance to dress up quirky, stylish,
out there, it's fashion baby!
This year's show has been talked about a lot on social media and sounds like it will be epic. Lots of fashion bloggers and fashion personalities have been invited so I am uber excited to be attending the grand finale. If you want to know more about fashion Week
follow @zambiafashionweek on twitter or like their facebook page.
The show will be hosted at the American Dome
within Lusaka showground and the grand finale will be on the 19th from 14:00 to
19:00 hours. Tickets for the grand finale are going for ZMW100
